Explosive Fatal Fire In Chester County: PA State Police (Update)

A house fire in Chester County involved one confirmed fatality, Pennsylvania State Police announced.

"During the preliminary investigation, it has been determined that there is one confirmed fatality," state police said in a news release.

The fire happened at a home on Hunters Run Road in Honey Brook Township at about 5 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18. Troopers responded with the Honey Brook and East Brandywine fire companies to find a fully involved house fire, according to state police.

An explosion caused the fire, according to multiple media outlets. However, Daily Voice has received no official confirmation on the cause.

The Honey Brook and East Brandywine fire companies responded to the blaze on Hunter Run Road, according to separate releases. East Brandywine specifically provided its Ladder 49 and Rescue 49 units.

The call to the fire came to Chester County Department of Emergency Services at 4:58 a.m. and an ambulance was called to the scene at 9:16 a.m., according to dispatch logs.

A 911 caller reported that the house was on fire with multiple explosions, and one person was found dead at the scene, according to WGAL 8 News.

This was an isolated incident and there are no threats to the public, state police said in the news release. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The investigation is ongoing.
